Anyone who wants to know what technical innovations, upheavals and revolutions await us in the next few years must not miss the keynotes at Interop Berlin 2007. They are freely accessible to all Interop visitors and deal with the most important areas of networking: Strategical Network Design, Internet Security, Interoperability of Applications, Application Delivery, proactive management of technologies and the future of converged networks.

The keynotes at a glance:

• “Strategical Network Design”. Bill Johnson, Global Director of Research and Development, ProCurve Networking, Hewlett-Packard.

Tuesday, November 6, 9:30 – 10:15

The economic success of a company depends on how flexibly it reacts to permanent global change. Convergence, globalization and profound technological changes will accelerate far-reaching changes even more strongly in the 21st century. What is therefore necessary is an intelligent, adaptive network that actively takes up and implements the requirements of users, applications and business.

• “The Malware Ecosystem and the Threat Posed by Criminal Specialization”. Scott Weiss, CEO Ironport, Vice President Cisco Systems.

Tuesday, November 6, 16:00 – 17:15

Protecting business-critical networks from external threats is often already part of everyday life for companies, because highly creative Internet crime appears limitless. The presentation describes current and future threats and shows how companies prevent confidential documents from leaving the company undetected or threats such as viruses and spam from entering the network.

• “Interoperability of Applications”. Tom Robertson, General Manager Interoperability & Standards, Microsoft Corporation.

Wednesday, November 7, 9:30 – 10:15

Information technology has spread explosively in recent years and developed into a multiply networked universe. Here, information is exchanged, business relationships are built and corporate values arise. Interoperability is indispensable for this ecosystem, which connects people, data and systems with one another. Tom Robertson’s keynote presentation opens the Application Interoperability specialist conference on November 7.

• “Application Delivery – Application Security – Application Visibility”. Stefan Sjöström, Vice President EMEA, Citrix Systems Inc.

Wednesday, November 7, 16:00 – 17:15

Making applications available to users independently of location and time ranks among the fundamental challenges facing IT departments. Technologies for Application Delivery, Application Security and Application Visibility are therefore continuing to gain importance. Stefan Sjöström gives an overview of the latest solution approaches from Citrix in his keynote.

• “Managing Technology: Who Are We Kidding?”. Al Nugent, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), CA.

Thursday, November 8, 9:30 – 10:15

Rising costs and ever more risks demand a new approach to mastering complexity and bloated IT environments. In his presentation, Al Nugent shows how companies can move beyond the “simple” administration of technology and actually begin to carry out proactive management, reduce costs and manage risks.

• “The Future of Converged Networks”. Stuart Wells, SVP of Global Communications Solutions, Avaya.

Thursday, November 8, 16:00 – 17:15

IP telephony already accounts for more than 75 percent of all deliveries of telephone systems to companies today. This shows that converged networks have outgrown their infancy. Stuart Wells shows which trends we can expect in terms of technology and its influence on the user. He will address special case studies from Avaya’s customer base and present a road map for the foreseeable future of corporate communication.
