Bigpoint continues on its course of international expansion. Following the recently announced media collaborations with the two largest web portals in Russia, Hamburg-based Bigpoint GmbH, a provider of browser-based online games (browser games), has now entered the market in Scandinavia. The background to the expansion into Scandinavia is the conclusion of two media collaborations with the two largest private television broadcasters in Finland and Denmark: with the Finnish television broadcaster MTV3 and the Danish broadcaster Tv2.

The content of the collaborations is the integration of the Bigpoint games on the web portals, as well as the active promotion of the games in the TV programmes of the two broadcasters.

Bigpoint goes Scandinavia

From now on, games such as Seafight, Dark Orbit, Space Invasion, The Mafia, Action League as well as X-Blaster from mid-November will be available to play free of charge on the portals of MTV3 and Tv2. Through expanded games content on their websites, the television broadcasters want to reach more users and thus build up long-term players and gaming communities on their portals.

“We are experiencing an exciting time at the moment – on the one hand in the demand for our high-quality online games through our partner model, on the other hand in our international expansion,“ says Heiko Hubertz, founder and managing director of Bigpoint. „Collaborations with media, Internet portals and publishers are a fixed component of our business model. With our browser games, we deliver top content to our partners – independent of time and space and across countries.“

The concept proves Hamburg-based Bigpoint GmbH right. Only in October, after growth of 4500 percent in the last four years, Bigpoint was awarded second place in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Award. Further nominations, such as the Online Star and Internet Entrepreneur of the Years, are still to come in October.

The market for browser-based online games is booming. Interest in games that can be played on the Internet independently of location and time in the global age is growing rapidly. With over 10 million registrations and 30,000 new registrations daily, the Bigpoint games portal ranks among the leading providers of browser games and is the largest gamer network in the world. In addition to offering the games on its own Bigpoint.com games portal, Bigpoint also offers the games to media companies and portals as a content supplement and additional revenue model.
