ViewSonic Expands Entry-Level VA Displays

Nine VA-series LCD displays span 17 to 22 inches, with 16:10 or 5:4 panels, dynamic contrast and analogue or DVI-D/HDCP inputs.

ViewSonic added nine LCD displays to its entry-level VA range. Sizes ran from 17 to 22 inches, with a choice of 16:10 widescreen and conventional 5:4 formats for home, education and office use.

The widescreen models provided enough horizontal area to display two documents side by side or show widescreen video without increasing the desktop footprint substantially.

Image controls and inputs

The range combined high brightness and contrast specifications with wide viewing angles and response times intended for games, video and presentations. Dynamic contrast adjustment changed black levels according to image content and reduced residual light in dark scenes, particularly from oblique viewing angles.

Depending on the model, connections included analogue input alone or analogue plus digital DVI-D with HDCP.

Operation and certification

An on-screen display exposed image settings, with control and power locks preventing accidental changes or shutdown. All nine displays were certified for Windows Vista and used black enclosures with a silver strip, narrow bezels and cable management. The range met TCO and ENERGY STAR requirements and used materials described as environmentally considerate.
