The Hamburg-based Bigpoint GmbH, provider of browser-based online games, is taking part this year when it comes to collecting money on RED NOSE DAY for children who are not on the sunny side of life. As a sponsor, Bigpoint supports the fundraising campaign initiated by ProSieben in Germany. For the fundraising campaign, Bigpoint will donate 50 cents for every player who registers for the browser games on ProSieben’s gaming portal, Sevengames.
And this is how it works: Simply go to http://sevengames.de/onlinegames/rednoseday, register and start playing. The collected donations from this year’s fundraising campaign benefit the relief organizations “Kindernothilfe”, “Off Road Kids”, “CHILDREN for a better World”, “Save the Children”, “McDonald’s Kinderhilfe” and “Comic Relief”, which selected by RED NOSE DAY e.V.
“Collecting money for a good cause with humor and fun – this unusual concept was the decisive factor for us in supporting RED NOSE DAY“, says Heiko Hubertz, Managing Director of Bigpoint GmbH. „The impressive results of the fundraising campaign, now being held for the fifth time, which has so far helped numerous children around the world with more than eight million euros in donations and sustainably improved their living situation through concrete assistance. This is such a big thing that we support as a partner of RED NOSE DAY.“
In addition to offering the games on its own gaming portal Bigpoint.com, Bigpoint offers its games to media companies and portals as a content supplement and additional revenue model. Numerous media partnerships, including with AOL, ProSieben, the two leading Russian search engines Rambler and Yandex and television stations in Scandinavia, show that Bigpoint’s successful concept is on the advance.
The year 2007 was exceptionally successful for the gaming provider from Hamburg. After winning the Onlinestar 2007 for the most popular website, Heiko Hubertz was voted into second place in the election for Internet Entrepreneur of the Year 2007.
The market for browser-based online games is booming. Interest in games that can be played on the Internet independently of place and time in the global age is growing rapidly. With more than 10 million registered accounts and 30,000 new registrations daily, the Bigpoint gaming portal is one of the leading providers of browser games and is the largest gamer network in the world.
