With the Robotevents.com website, Autodesk and Innovation First provide an information platform that introduces students and teachers to the world of robotics through play. News, online forums, blogs and competitions are offered around this topic. In addition, educators can access extensive teaching materials and integrate this subject meaningfully into lessons. The aim is to make the areas unpopular with pupils and students, such as science, technology, construction and mathematics, more exciting again.
“The website is a very effective way to get pupils and students excited about technical subjects. We want to awaken their interest in these disciplines and thereby enable them to prepare for future academic and professional development,” explains Herbert Bickelmann, Education Manager at Autodesk.
The field of robotics combines these areas and is perceived as more interesting and modern than the classical sciences. A study proves that pupils or students who have engaged with robotics develop a strong affinity for careers in the scientific or technological field. Easily understandable and user-friendly robotics programmes are available for all age groups. Thus, an understanding of science and technology can be created as early as primary school with the help of the website.
Autodesk additionally supports the initiative by providing free design programmes that are used worldwide by robotics engineers. The software can be downloaded free of charge via the Autodesk Student Community http://www.students.autodesk.de.
