As part of the “Munich Media Days”, four students from the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences – Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences were honoured. In the category “Best Opening Title Design for a Fictional Programme”, the students prevailed against professionals and received 1st prize at “Eyes & Ears of Europe 2007”. Prof. Jürgen Schopper, who teaches “Film & Animation” at the Georg Simon Ohm University in Nuremberg, was particularly pleased about the news: “The interesting thing, about this prize is that it is not a young talent prize, but an award for professionals from the media industry; accordingly ORF is second and ProSiebenSat.1 occupy 3rd place.”
The successful students are Sermin Kaynak, Claudia Rafael, Ingo Walde and Tobias Wiesner. In the category “Best Opening Title Design for a Fictional Programme”, they prevailed against the competition with their title design “Penumbra”.
Exciting Like a Thriller
The jury explained the awarding of the prize as follows: “A complex visual nesting enables the fluid transition from scene to scene. The numerous brief impressions show mysterious places and evoke eerie scenes. The images recall the ingredients of an exciting thriller: crime, murder, investigation, chase. A multitude of small details stimulates the imagination and heightens the suspense for the film that follows.”
From 468 submissions, five expert juries in Zurich, Vienna, London, Strasbourg and Cologne had identified the outstanding productions of the past year in the fields of media design, on-air, off- air, online and cross-promotion as well as brand communication for audiovisual media. Around 700 guests celebrated the 32 prize winners and 96 finalists of the international “Eyes & Ears Awards 2007”. For the ninth time, the industry association “Eyes & Ears of Europe” presented the award as part of the “Munich Media Days”.
