Expansion of DVB-T in Rhineland-Palatinate

Viewers in the Kaiserslautern area who receive their TV programmes digitally via antenna from the Kaiserslautern-Dansenberg transmitter must restart the automatic channel scan on their DVB-T receiver on December 4. The reason is a change of channels.

The main ZDF programme, 3sat, ZDFinfokanal and KIKA/ZDFdokukanal will be broadcast on channel 30 in Kaiserslautern from the reference date. Until now, they have been broadcast on channel 22. The other programmes are also changing channel: SWR Fernsehen, Bayerisches Fernsehen, hr-fernsehen and WDR Fernsehen will in future be broadcast on channel 44 (previously channel 7). Das Erste, Phoenix, arte and EinsPlus are moving to channel 57 (previously channel 44). Without a channel scan, the named television programmes can no longer be received from December 4.

The changes are necessary in the course of the DVB-T expansion in Rhineland-Palatinate in order to implement the requirements of international frequency planning that were defined in 2006 in the so-called “Geneva Plan”. Digital terrestrial television will launch on December 4 in further parts of the Palatinate, Rhenish Hesse and the south-eastern Hunsrück. In these regions, viewers will then be able to receive twelve public-service television programmes via DVB-T. By the end of 2008, DVB-T is then to have been expanded everywhere in Rhineland-Palatinate.
