In cooperation with processor manufacturer Intel, ASUS is now involved as the main sponsor of the Electronic Sports League (ESL) Alps in Austria and Switzerland. In this context, ASUS financially supports the eSport championship Alps Pro Series and also provides numerous hardware prizes. The Alps Pro Series is the premier class of the online leagues, in which the best computer gamers from Austria and Switzerland compete against each other and play for the championship title as well as prize money totalling more than € 65,000.-. The next season starts in March 2008.
ASUS and Intel Emphasise Gaming Commitment
“We see enormous potential in the gaming segment and are therefore continuously expanding our commitment in this area. After our first appearance with our own stand at the Games Convention this year, we would like to additionally strengthen the ASUS brand beyond our innovative gaming products with the sponsorship of the ESL Alps”, emphasises Eric Chen, General Manager Europe at ASUS. “The fact that we are now active in the field of eSports is also an important step for us in entering into an even more intensive dialogue with the gaming community, which is very demanding with regard to PC hardware.”
Hannes Schwaderer, managing director Germany and Austria, Intel GmbH, adds: “As a long-standing sponsor of the ESL, we have been involved from the beginning and have accompanied the gaming scene in Germany since its birth. We are pleased to expand our gaming commitment and, with immediate effect, to promote the largest online league for computer games in Austria and Switzerland together with ASUS. ASUS is a strong partner for us in making eSport in the Alpine region accessible to a broad audience.”
