By offering the prize as part of the annually held “Hessen-IT Congress”, the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and Regional Development wants to draw attention to computer games that are meaningful but certainly also have a fun factor. Serious games are understood to mean computer games,

that are developed for a serious, meaningful use beyond their entertainment value.

“I Have a Friend Who Is a Policewoman” from Rabenstark.de. With the award-winning learning software “I Have a Friend Who Is a Policewoman”, children from the age of four can learn what preschool children need to know about road traffic. Four different play and learning elements promote the different skills involved in using a computer and are a lot of fun. Policewoman Meike and her colleague Thilo are voiced by the actors Maria Ketikidou and Till Demtröder – both known from the TV series “Großstadtrevier”.

Christina and Thomas Kruk, the makers of Rabenstark.de, are proud that their production is receiving so much recognition: “Our titles are designed with great care and all play and learning elements were developed and tested together with children.” The Serious Games Award is the third distinction for Rabenstark.de. Previously, the professions series had already been distinguished with the “Clever of the Week” from the “ZUM Centre for Teaching Media”, and the title “We Have a Friend Who Is a Footballer” with the educational prize “Pädi Seal of Quality” from the renowned “SIN-Studio im Netz”.
