An average of 4.31 million viewers watched the PHOENIX programme every day (an increase of 0.18 million compared with the previous year). The Bonn broadcaster thus significantly increased its market share for the third time in succession.
In the area of events reporting, viewers were particularly interested in the G8 summit in Heiligendamm, the budget debates in the Bundestag and the CSU election party conference. Among the documentaries and reports, the series "The Last Days of a Legend", the documentary focus on the "German Autumn and the RAF", and the film "Enemy's Child - My Father Was a German Soldier", produced for PHOENIX by ZDF's Paris studio, achieved high viewer acceptance. Among the discussion formats, the "International Frühschoppen" on the topic "Turkey - not ready for the EU after all?" in particular was watched far above average, as were the political talk show "Unter den Linden" on the topic "From childcare allowance to minimum wage - The crises of the Grand Coalition", and the "PHOENIX Runde" on the topic "Schröder's legacy and Merkel's dilemma? - The coalition and the reforms".
