Millions of novels and comic books sold and a 78-part animated series have made “Wickie” an absolute cult figure over the past 30 years! Now his adventures are being filmed for the big screen for the first time. Germany’s currently most successful director Michael Bully Herbig, whose last three films attracted more than 23 million visitors to cinemas, will direct the little Viking boy’s first live-action film for the big screen!
“Wickie” became known above all through the animated series, which was first broadcast by ZDF and ORF in 1974. “Wickie” also has fans young and old outside Germany and Austria, for example in France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Japan and Taiwan.
“The new Bully” is being produced under the leadership of Christian Becker (“The Wave”, “Hui Buh – The Goofy Ghost”) and Rat Pack Filmproduktion, a subsidiary of Constantin Film AG, in co-production with Constantin Film and herbX film.
In 2009, “Wickie and the Strong Men” is then set to sail across the big, wide screen, distributed by Constantin!
