Following enquiries with the official sponsors of this year’s European Football Championship, marketing of TV advertising time around coverage of UEFA EURO 2008 on Das Erste begins on January 11. For this, marketer ARD-Werbung SALES & SERVICES (AS&S) is now presenting advertising prices that range between €18,000 and €120,750 for a 30-second spot, depending on the match pairing and placement.

The cheapest spot, at €18,000, is available, for example, around the studio coverage at 18.50 before a 20.45 match such as Greece – Spain. The most expensive advertising price applies to corner placements in the advertising block during half-time breaks in the 18.00 matches. Das Erste will broadcast a total of four commercially relevant matches at 18.00; for five matches kicking off at 20.45, advertising slots have been created around the pre-match coverage before 20.00.

Sales of advertising time begin on January 11. The Frankfurt marketer expects the advertising time to sell out quickly. “At the last European Football Championship, all spots were gone within an hour,” recalls AS&S chief Achim Rohnke. “We can therefore only advise all customers and agencies to act quickly.” Based on the experience of the 2006 Football World Cup, it was assumed that the European Championship, as an emotional football festival, would also generate record-breaking reach.

Information on the TV presenters for UEFA EURO 2008 on Das Erste is not yet available, because marketing here is handled directly by UEFA and not by AS&S.
