Kabel Deutschland is creating 160 new jobs in customer service. The additional qualified staff are intended to expand and improve the cable-network operator’s customer service further. Germany’s largest cable-network operator is using the job expansion to strengthen its two customer-service centres in Erfurt and Großkugel near Halle, which assist the company’s more than 9 million customers with all contractual and product questions.
One hundred additional positions are being created at the customer-service centre in Erfurt. This brings the location in the Thuringian state capital to a total of 600 employees. At the same time, 60 new jobs are being created at the Großkugel location near Halle. A total of 600 employees will then also work in customer service there. Together with employees in sales and technology, Kabel Deutschland will then provide around 1,400 jobs in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt alone. The company has been involved in vocational training since 2005 and is also assuming labour-market policy responsibility in this way. The company is thereby underlining its position as an important employer in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt.
Qualified applicants sought – Many positions still open
The new employees are expected to start work in Erfurt and Großkugel as early as the end of February. Ongoing staff-recruitment measures through various temporary-employment agencies have so far not produced a satisfactory result. “For our customer-service centre, we are preferably looking for female or male office-management clerks. A certain willingness to familiarise oneself with technical subjects is also highly desirable,” says Marko Geyer, head of the customer-service centre in Erfurt. “Despite the attractive jobs and interesting subject area, the search for qualified applicants is becoming increasingly difficult. Many positions are still open,” Geyer continues. “Qualified and interested specialists should please contact our temporary-employment partners.” (In Erfurt, among others, Adecco, Jobs in Time and Randstad; in Halle, among others, Adecco, egonova and Randstad.)
Triple Play: Television, internet and telephony from one provider
Employees at the customer-service centres work in a highly current and exciting field. Kabel Deutschland’s offering includes the digital cable connection with 200 television channels, including more than 40 analogue and up to 100 free-to-air digital programmes as well as more than 70 additional attractive subscription TV programmes, together with a broad analogue and digital radio selection and offerings for fast broadband internet and telephony over the television cable. Tests by computer magazines had only recently credited internet offerings over the television cable with higher and more reliable download speeds than internet access via DSL. Particularly popular are the low-cost double-flat packages consisting of a fast internet flat rate for unlimited surfing and a telephone flat rate for all calls to German landlines. All products and services can of course be used simultaneously over the TV cable.
