The latest Xeatre.tv version can be controlled completely from a mobile phone, with recordings viewable by streaming. Following the iPhone’s launch, the developers adapted the software for the device and introduced the xeatre.mobile module.

xeatre.mobile provides the desktop version’s functions on the move. On an iPhone, users can schedule individual recordings and 24×7 loop recordings, access and search the electronic programme guide, watch live television via MP4 stream, view recording archives that may contain several terabytes, and retrieve technical data and system information. Transmission quality can be selected; MP4 and 3GP were supported. Internet access is the only requirement.

The module supported iPhone and iPod touch devices, using Wi-Fi or EDGE automatically; UMTS support was in development. Xeatre.tv is operated through Safari. Managing director Christian Siegert said the mobile connection would let creative professionals access their broadcast archives while travelling, on set or in meetings, and would also help broadcasters and IPTV providers respond to signal faults remotely. The module was to be available from February 2008, with prices starting at €2,580 depending on system size.
