The project has now been registered for examination by the Bundeskartellamt, as a spokesman for the authority confirmed to the Hamburg information service ‘new business’. doc.station was founded in 1999 jointly by the ZDF subsidiary and Katharina Trebitsch to develop non-fiction reports and documentaries. ZDF Enterprises and Trebitsch previously each held 50 percent of the company. doc.station is known, among other things, for productions such as ‘37°’, ‘Reiselust’, ‘ZDF Expeditionen’, the talk show ‘Maybrit Illner’ and the cinema/TV documentary ‘Schleyer — Ein deutsches Leben’.
