The long-established Motion Compensation technology, which enables judder-free movement sequences when frame rates are changed, is now being introduced for the first time in an HDTV processing platform with the ‘Alchemist Ph.C HD’. This enables all HDTV standards to be converted with motion compensation (cross-conversion); high-quality up- and down-conversions between the HD and SD levels are also possible.
The HD standards converter is therefore significant not only in broadcasting but equally for HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc mastering, for which the HD master can now be converted to the desired target format in high-end quality.
GLS is rightly proud of its investment in the ‘Alchemist Ph.C HD’, as the converter ideally complements GLS’s existing HD post-production equipment, such as HDCAM, HDCAM-SR, HDTV edit suites, and HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc mastering.
