Quantel CEO Ray Cross said Brown would focus particularly on product development. “We always try to work with the best people. It is almost impossible to find anyone in this field with more experience and expertise than Roland Brown.”
Brown has followed Quantel’s development for three decades and first became familiar with its technology in the late 1970s. He said he looked forward to working with the research and development engineers: “I have always admired the approach of giving creative people technical solutions and tools that enable them to realize their full potential.”
“Our industry is undergoing a transition in which electronic tools have become routine for users and the technology increasingly moves into the background,” Brown said. “We have become accustomed to using sophisticated equipment in film and television production, but craftsmanship and the development of our individual abilities will shape the industry’s next phase.”
