RED Camera Workshop Scheduled in Berlin

A hands-on RED camera workshop will take place on 11 March at Studio 1 of Berliner Union Film.

Ludwig Kameraverleih, Berliner Union Film and PostFactory will hold Berlin’s first RED workshop on 11 March. The Hands on RED event will take place at Studio 1 of Berliner Union Film, Oberlandstraße 26–35, 12099 Berlin. Participants can also tour Berliner Union Film’s new service center.

The workshop is aimed at film and television producers, production managers, cinematographers, editors and VFX artists. It will introduce the RED camera and provide an opportunity to use it under studio conditions. Participants can test camera accessories and continue processing the captured material through a postproduction workflow. PostFactory will demonstrate a 2K Clipster and Final Cut Pro with a Redcine workflow, with workstations showing TV-only and file-based cinema solutions. Registration is available at service@berlinerunionfilm.de with the subject “Hands on RED”; attendance is limited.

The RED camera attracted attention at NAB and IBC. Its specifications include a Super 35 mm sensor, 4K resolution, recording up to 96 frames per second at 2K, 12-bit color depth, dedicated prime lenses and professional accessories. It records 4K raw data alongside QuickTime proxies to CompactFlash cards or RAID drives. The camera body was offered for approximately €15,000.
