Full compatibility with earlier versions means existing projects can be opened and edited in the new release. Alongside detailed improvements to individual filter parameters, FEC 5 adds 16-bit rendering, multiprocessor acceleration, Mac Universal compatibility and support for After Effects CS3. Some features from Boris Continuum Complete have also been integrated. The filters now use the established Boris interface, with preset management and the Boris PixelChooser masking tool.
Final Effects Complete plugins developed a strong following among users but had become difficult to obtain in recent years. The product now has a new home at Boris FX, where an experienced team will support and continue developing it.
