Apple Introduces New MacBook and MacBook Pro Models with Multi-Touch Trackpad on MacBook Pro

Apple has updated the MacBook and MacBook Pro.

The notebooks are now available with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, larger hard drives and 2 GB of memory as standard in most models.

The MacBook Pro models also include the latest NVIDIA graphics processors with up to 512 MB of video memory and the Multi-Touch trackpad first introduced with the MacBook Air. All Mac notebooks feature an integrated iSight video camera for mobile video conferencing, a MagSafe power adapter that safely disconnects if the cable is pulled, and built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi with up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g.

The new MacBook Pro uses the latest Core 2 Duo technology, with processors up to 2.6 GHz and 6 MB of shared L2 cache, up to 4 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, hard drives up to 300 GB, and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with up to 512 MB of video memory. Every MacBook Pro supports Multi-Touch gestures for actions such as rotating, zooming and browsing photos in iPhoto or Aperture 2 and navigating web pages in Safari. A backlit keyboard for low-light environments such as aircraft, studios and conference rooms, along with an ambient-light sensor that automatically adjusts keyboard and display brightness, is standard on every MacBook Pro.

The new MacBook line, with a glossy 13-inch widescreen display and prices starting at €999 including VAT, consists of three models with faster processors and larger hard drives. The white 2.1 GHz and 2.4 GHz models include 120 GB and 160 GB hard drives at 5,400 rpm, respectively, while the black 2.4 GHz model includes a 250 GB, 5,400 rpm drive previously available only as an option. The 2.4 GHz MacBook models include 2 GB of memory as standard, and every model can be expanded to 4 GB.

Every MacBook and MacBook Pro includes an iSight video camera for mobile video conferencing. The MagSafe adapter creates a magnetic power-cable connection that safely releases under tension. The current 802.11n Wi-Fi technology offers up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g. Built-in connections include 10/100/1000 BASE-T Ethernet, Bluetooth, analog and digital audio input and output, USB 2.0, FireWire and, on most models, a SuperDrive.
