DSF is improving its digital TV distribution on Kabel BW’s cable networks: through an agreement with Kabel BW, DSF has increased the bandwidth of its digital TV signal by more than 50 percent. At the beginning of February, distribution was increased to an average bandwidth of 4.25 Mbit/s at a resolution of 720×576 pixels, and thus to the highest possible picture quality.
With this improvement, DSF is responding to the continually growing importance of digital TV distribution. Specifically, around 2.3 million TV households receiving digital cable in Baden-Württemberg will in future be supplied with an even better signal.
Manfred Eisele, Head of Production at DSF: “The digitisation of Germany’s TV infrastructure is developing ever faster. In particular, the dynamics of moving images in sports productions place very special demands on digital processing and distribution. High-quality distribution of our top sporting events is our standard. After increasing digital bandwidth via satellite at the beginning of the year, we are now taking the next step and also increasing the quality of our TV signal on Kabel BW’s cable networks. In doing so, we guarantee Kabel BW’s customers, our advertising partners and sports rights providers an even better programme signal in future.”
“Many of our customers already watch exclusively digitally,” adds Klaus Wolf, Head of Content Management at Kabel BW. “The improved DSF signal means even higher digital picture quality for our customers, which is particularly clearly visible on modern TFT and plasma televisions. We are therefore delighted that we will be able to offer DSF to our shared sports-loving customers on Kabel BW’s cable network in the best digital quality in future.”
