For this, Sony is providing, among other things, a brand-new 4K projector from the CineAlta range. Internationally active Munich systems and sales company Band Pro is participating with the flagship SONY F23.
The German short-film scene is booming and more vibrant than ever. More than 2000 short films are produced in Germany every year, with outstanding success. German short films frequently win awards at home and abroad. In its nine years of existence, the Landshut Short Film Festival has built an excellent reputation within the industry and among audiences. The Landshut Short Film Festival sees itself as a platform for German-language short films and relies on innovation and high technology in projection. The association has further expanded its commitment to the cinema of the future and digital projection, and this year many competition entries will be shown digitally in high definition alongside the usual 35 mm projection format. The festival thus gives filmmakers the opportunity to present their work with exceptionally brilliant image quality.
HD cinematography has long since received the blessing of mainstream cinema. Directors and cinematographers of international standing use the enormous technical possibilities of the new medium. Producers, meanwhile, welcome the financial flexibility gained through the use of HD. The world of digital data also offers further opportunities and advantages in postproduction and distribution.
Digital acquisition plays a particular role within the digital workflow. What use are sophisticated processing programmes and the best projectors if the source material does not meet quality requirements? With the SONY F23, Band Pro is providing one of the most advanced image-acquisition systems currently available. But that is not all. Since a camera is only as good as the person operating it, Gerhard Baier, Managing Director of Band Pro Munich, never tires of advocating that the training of future cinematographers be adapted to the new technical possibilities.
