But that is not all: on its fifth weekend, just past, UNSERE ERDE became the first nature documentary in Germany to break the two-million mark, leaving DIE REISE DER PINGUINE (1.5 million viewers) far behind.
UNSERE ERDE opened on February 7, 2008, distributed by UNIVERSUM FILM with 147 prints. The nature documentary is currently showing in 421 cinemas nationwide. Of all the countries in which UNSERE ERDE has opened, the documentary achieved its best box-office result in Germany. By comparison, in France, where UNSERE ERDE has so far achieved its best European result after Germany, 1.4 million viewers saw the film. With this sensational success of more than two million cinema admissions, UNSERE ERDE even overtook the previous leader, Japan (1.9 million viewers), over the weekend.
UNSERE ERDE is on its way to becoming Europe’s most successful nature documentary.
