“With its latest high-performance 16 GB SDHC card, Verbatim is systematically expanding its flash range to meet growing demand for high-capacity memory cards with short transfer times,” says Hans Christoph Kaiser, business development manager for Flash and USB Memory at Verbatim EUMEA.
The Secure Digital High Capacity format offers significantly higher data-transfer speeds than previous SD formats. It is used mainly in the latest generation of devices that can read both SDHC and SD formats. SDHC cards are not backward-compatible with earlier SD devices.
Verbatim’s new 16 GB SDHC card belongs to the highest speed class, Class 6, guaranteeing a minimum write speed of 6 MB/s and data-transfer rates of up to 20 MB/s. At a resolution of eight megapixels, it provides capacity for around 4,600 JPEG images or two hours of video at the highest HD-camcorder resolution. “This makes it suitable not only for professional digital photography, including continuous shooting, but also for videography with the latest HD camcorder models,” says Kaiser.
