GameStar Previews New Features in The Sims 3

GameStar previews the connected world, object editor and social-interaction system planned for The Sims 3.

The Sims series is entering its next round. The Sims 3 is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2009 as the third instalment in a franchise approaching 100 million copies sold.

Following a total of 39 main programs, expansions and spin-offs, The Sims 3 is the first full evolution since The Sims 2 appeared in September 2004. GameStar visited the developers in San Francisco and will present the changes awaiting the large German fan community in an extensive exclusive feature.

For the first time, the game will provide a connected world that players can explore without loading times or disruptive transition screens.

A new object editor allows players to design and customise every furnishing in the game. The developers have also introduced a new mood system intended to create a more realistic atmosphere, alongside a broader and more complex range of social interactions between characters.
