Last week, the experiment opened in second place in the media control cinema charts with 270,000 viewers. Since then, another 310,000 people have joined them. Dennis Gansel’s film starring Jürgen Vogel thus takes first place in the cinema rankings.
The story is based on the school project “The Third Wave”, carried out in America in 1967.
“Horton Hears a Who” has to yield and falls to second place. The animated film, in which the lovable elephant Horton saves the microscopically small Whos
from destruction, drew 286,000 viewers to cinemas over Easter. Like “The
Grinch” (2000) and “The Cat in the Hat” (2004), the film is based on a
children’s book by Dr. Seuss.
“Juno” makes its debut in fourth place with 194,000 cinemagoers. After a one-
night stand with her childhood friend Paulie (Michael Cera), 16-year-old Juno
(Ellen Page) becomes pregnant. Besides thoughts of abortion and adoption, she has to explain her
little faux pas to her parents. Of its four Oscar nominations, Jason Reitman’s film won the award for “Best Original Screenplay”.
Third and fifth places are occupied by the nature documentary “Earth”
(205,000 viewers) and Roland Emmerich’s “10,000 B.C.” (120,000 viewers).
