GAMEplaces International Returns to Frankfurt

The second conference for game developers, producers and publishers takes place in Frankfurt am Main on 26 May.

GAMEplaces International is organised by Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt GmbH, the German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software and Weber Networking GmbH. Partners of the industry conference are the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Frankfurt, Hessen-IT, Messe Frankfurt and Red Carpet Event.

Across six internationally staffed sessions, GAMEplaces International will address current trends in the rapidly growing industry. Technological, content and business requirements will be discussed, and development trends highlighted.

Next-generation titles for PS3, Xbox Live and Wii are on the programme alongside casual games, serious games and MMOs.

“GAMEplaces International once again aims to initiate an international transfer of knowledge; this year’s conference also seeks to promote networking between European companies,” explains Dr Urda Martens-Jeebe, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt.

The focus is on the Netherlands, which has particular strengths in developing online, console and serious games. “Events such as GAMEplaces International are ideal facilitators for international cooperation,” says Ellen Horstmann of the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Frankfurt. A lively exchange benefits both sides, she adds. She has therefore successfully encouraged extensive Dutch participation: speakers from the Netherlands’ games industry are represented in four of the six sessions.

Alongside new perspectives, knowledge transfer and targeted networking opportunities, GAMEplaces International is offering exhibition space in the style of a conventional trade fair for the first time this year. Interested parties that want to use the industry conference to present their company, products or services can register as exhibitors through Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt GmbH until 11 April.

The organisers launched the event series in April 2006 to raise awareness of games and gaming.

The series aims to promote and strengthen networks within and across industries. GAMEplaces is aimed primarily at decision-makers from the games and media industries, politicians, journalists and interested members of the public, and takes place four times a year.

Each event addresses a specific aspect of the overall subject. Its potential is examined critically and from different perspectives.

The one-day GAMEplaces International industry conference, taking place for the second time this year, is organised in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt and the Consulate General of the Netherlands.
