TV Series Arrive on Germany’s iTunes Store

Apple announces the availability of television series in Germany’s iTunes Store, including popular German productions and US series.

Apple announced today that a wide range of popular German television series from ProSieben, Sat.1, ZDF Enterprises and Brainpool, as well as US broadcasters ABC Studios and MTV Networks, are now available in the German iTunes Store at http://www.itunes.de. German iTunes customers can choose from series including “Stromberg”, “Tramitz and Friends”, “Switch!”, “Shaolin Wuzang” and “Kaya Yanar – Made In Germany”, as well as multiple-award-winning US series such as “Lost”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “South Park”.

“With more than four billion songs and 125 million television episodes sold, iTunes is the world’s most popular online music and television store,” says Eddy Cue, Apple’s Vice President of iTunes. “We are delighted to be able to offer 35 television series in the German iTunes Store from launch.”

Television programmes available in the iTunes Store can be downloaded after purchase and watched on a Mac or PC, a video-capable iPod nano, iPod classic, iPod touch, fifth-generation iPod, iPhone, or on a widescreen television through Apple TV. Individual episodes cost between €1.99 and €2.49. At launch in the German iTunes Store, users can choose from a range of popular series:

- the German Comedy Award-winning series “Switch!” and “Tramitz and Friends” from ProSieben;

- “Zack! Comedy nach Maß” and action series including “GSG9” from Sat.1;

- children’s animation such as “Shaolin Wuzang” and the documentary series “Update 2057 – Unser Leben in der Zukunft” from ZDF Enterprises;

- “Lost”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Criminal Minds” from ABC;

- “South Park”, “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender” from MTV Networks; and

- the German Television Award-winning comedy series “Stromberg”, “Dr. Psycho” and “Kaya Yanar – Made in Germany” from Brainpool.

Prices and availability

iTunes 7.6 for Mac and Windows includes the iTunes Store and is available as a free download from http://www.itunes.de. Purchasing and downloading music, videos or television series from the iTunes Store requires a valid credit card from a financial institution in the relevant country. Television series are available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Germany, while music-video availability varies by country. Individual television episodes cost between €1.99 and €2.49. Series offered in the iTunes Store can be watched on a Mac or PC, a video-capable iPod nano, iPod classic, iPod touch, fifth-generation iPod, iPhone, or on a widescreen television through Apple TV.
