Iron Man also becomes a superhero rather involuntarily, although his surname almost inevitably points to his true destiny. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has become a multimillionaire as an industrialist in the arms business. Everything in Stark’s life goes according to plan until he is kidnapped during a weapons test. His only chance of escape is to develop a high-tech, versatile suit of iron armour that gives him superhuman strength and abilities. It enables Stark to escape. Back in his old life, Stark, alias “IRON MAN”, is now ready to save humanity from a global threat. It is the birth of a new superhero.
Directed by Jon Favreau (“Elf”), the film stars Robert Downey Jr. as the superhero (“Gothika”, “Zodiac”, “Good Night, and Good Luck”) and Gwyneth Paltrow (“Shakespeare in Love”, “Shallow Hal”, “The Talented Mr. Ripley”) as his charming assistant. The high-profile cast is completed by Jeff Bridges (“The Door in the Floor”) and Terrence Howard (“August Rush”, “Crash”).
