Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh is available now. The manufacturer promises that the new version will let beginners and advanced users get the best out of their digital photos.
The new Photomerge technology is said to make it effortless to create the perfect group photo by combining the best facial expressions and body positions from several shots into a single group image. The new Quick Selection tool makes it easier to select specific areas of an image. Three editing modes are intended to meet the needs of beginners through to experts. With a clearer interface that puts the photo at the centre, Photoshop Elements 6 simplifies digital image editing. New tabs also provide easy access to many program functions. Another new feature is the improved tool for converting colour photos into one of many black-and-white variants.
Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh runs on Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.2) and on all earlier versions from 10.4.8 onwards. The software is a Universal Binary application that runs natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macintosh systems. The program is available for around 95 euros. Owners of earlier versions can purchase an upgrade for 73 euros.
