A specific topic will be assigned. The film festival is being held in Bonn as part of the ninth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. Prizes of up to €4,000 are available.
Small digital cameras give filmmakers considerable freedom to work creatively, flexibly and quickly. This spontaneity and creativity are what the rapid-film festival in Bonn requires. Participants will not learn the precise task until 20 May 2008. Immediately afterward, they will have 40 hours to create a film based on the topic. They can either attend in Bonn or participate online from anywhere in Germany.
Applications to participate will be accepted until 5 May 2008. Both amateurs and professionals can enter. Prizes will be awarded in separate “Professional” and “Non-Professional” categories. Digital editing stations will be available to on-site participants, but they must bring their own cameras. Participants elsewhere in Germany will produce their films entirely with their own equipment and upload them online by the deadline. An independent jury will select the winners, who will be announced at a ceremony on 24 May 2008. First-place prizes are €4,000 each, second-place prizes €2,000 each and third-place prizes €1,000 each. Participants will also receive an expense allowance.
