Avira and Ubisoft Cooperate

Good news for all computer gamers: German IT security specialist Avira and Düsseldorf-based publisher Ubisoft are joining forces immediately for virus-free gaming on the PC. Buying Assassin´s Creed Director´s Cut Edition, now available worldwide in stores for the PC, gets you the Avira Internet Security Suite for 33.95 euros in the Avira online shop. The antivirus software’s special Game Mode prevents players from being bothered by firewall pop-ups while gaming.

“Games that connect to the Internet or online games pose a security risk without up-to-date virus protection. The partnership with Ubisoft enables us to bring the subject of IT security even more strongly to gamers’ attention,” explains Tjark Auerbach, founder and managing director of Avira.

While the player slips into the role of Altair, the main character in Assassin’s Creed, he does not want to be disturbed, certainly not by automatic pop-up messages from antivirus protection. Avira AntiVir therefore stays discreetly in the background: Game Mode can easily be activated with the right mouse button via the software’s tray icon and suppresses disruptive firewall notification windows. The Avira Firewall’s rule-based protection against outside attacks remains in place as defined in the system. New applications seeking access to the network are temporarily permitted.

“We can recommend Avira’s proven malware protection to our customers with a clear conscience. The programme uses resources sparingly and stands out for its fast updates,” says Benedikt Schüler, Marketing Director at Ubisoft. “This bundle offer is an excellent start to an ongoing strategic marketing cooperation.”
