Seagate Technology announced that longtime management-team member and Chief Financial Officer Charles Pope would leave his post effective August 25, 2008 to focus on leading Seagate Services, a provider of data-management and security solutions. During his 24 years with Seagate, Pope held a range of financial and operational responsibilities, including mergers and acquisitions, portfolio management, media operations and business-process reorganization.
Patrick O’Malley, Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasury, was named as Pope’s successor. O’Malley was responsible for corporate accounting, finance and reporting, treasury, corporate financial planning and analysis, and support for Seagate business units, sales and other functions.
Seagate chief executive Bill Watkins credited Pope with a decisive contribution to the company’s growth and said that O’Malley had proven himself a reliable senior executive during a period of dramatic change.
