The innovative technology in the E series is combined with a new, futuristic enclosure design. The VPL-EW5 offers WXGA resolution, matching the native format of many widescreen notebooks and consequently enjoying great popularity. Sony is addressing customers who need flexible, portable presentation solutions for business or training environments. End customers who purchase a VPL-EX5, VPL-EX50 or VPL-EW5 by 31 July 2008 can extend the included three-year PrimeSupport package to five years free of charge by 31 October 2008.
Sony is the first projector manufacturer to use inorganic panels. The company’s internally developed panel technology has been used for around a year in high-end models for demanding design applications. The broad market for all-purpose projectors can now also benefit from its advantages.
BrightEra™ is Sony’s name for its inorganic-panel technology. The panels offer several advantages. First, they increase light transmission, enhancing projection brightness. Second, black levels and contrast are higher than on conventional 3LCD units. Because inorganic panels absorb less damaging ultraviolet radiation, their service life is also extended.
Another advantage is that projectors in the new E series have a filter-replacement interval of 3,000 hours. Less maintenance is therefore required, resulting in lower operating costs.
Overall, the new units make presentations especially straightforward. Quick Start displays the projected image on the screen within four seconds. Automatic keystone correction and a preset eight-degree tilt angle take care of the most important settings in advance, eliminating cumbersome readjustment.
Exhaust air escapes through the front of the unit and therefore does not disturb listeners. The Off & Go function is very helpful in everyday presentation work: after the projector is disconnected from the power supply, the fan continues cooling the lamp. Users do not need to wait for the cooling phase to finish, but can disconnect the unit immediately and transport it in the included case.
End customers purchasing a VPL-EX5, VPL-EX50 or VPL-EW5 by 31 July 2008 can extend the included three-year PrimeSupport package to five years by registering the unit by 31 October 2008.
