Service Pack 3 for Windows XP is now available from the Microsoft Download Center and can also be installed largely automatically through Windows Update. The German version was already available, with distribution through Automatic Updates planned for mid-year.
Customers using Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System were advised not to install SP3 for the time being because of a known compatibility problem; a solution was expected later that month.
Windows XP SP3 contains all previously released operating-system updates as well as several new functions that do not substantially change use of Windows XP. For enterprise customers using Windows Vista, improvements such as Network Access Protection make joint management of Windows XP and Windows Vista within a network environment easier.
