Windows 7 is expected to become generally available approximately three years after Windows Vista’s market launch. It is based on the innovations introduced in Windows Vista and further developed in both Windows Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008. In developing Windows 7, Microsoft is ensuring that the investments partners and customers have made in Windows Vista are fully taken into account and that they receive substantial added value from both versions. Windows 7 is therefore intended to run on the same hardware recommended for Windows Vista. Applications and devices for Windows Vista will also be compatible with Windows 7. Microsoft will provide partners and customers with more details as soon as possible.
