Filming Begins on Terminator 4

Principal photography began on May 5, 2008, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Moritz Borman production, presented by the Halcyon Company and titled “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,” is being directed by McG from a screenplay by Michael Ferris and John Brancato.

The film is produced by Moritz Borman, Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek, and Jeffrey Silver, and co-produced by Peter D. Graves, Bahman Naraghi, Mario F. Kassar, Andrew G. Vajna, Joel B. Michaels, Dan Lin, and Jeanne Allgood.

Warner Bros. Pictures is handling all US and Canadian distribution rights for the film, while Sony Pictures Entertainment holds the distribution rights for most international territories.

In the highly anticipated new installment of the Terminator film franchise, set in the post-apocalyptic year 2018, lead actor Christian Bale plays John Connor. Connor’s destiny is to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future looks different from what Connor expected: Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being sentenced to death, suddenly appears.

Connor must decide whether Marcus was sent from the future or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final attack, Connor and Marcus embark on an odyssey that takes them inside Skynet’s organization, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible destruction of humanity.

The film’s supporting cast includes Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star.

“Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” marks the latest sequel in the billion-dollar Terminator franchise and will be the first film in a new Terminator trilogy. The film is scheduled for US theatrical release on May 22, 2009, and opens in Germany on June 4, 2009. Principal photography is taking place at Albuquerque Studios and at locations throughout New Mexico.
