Director and producer Stuart Warren-Hill (Hexstatic) won the award for “Best Use of Footage in an Advertisement” for the viral film “DIESEL 78: Learn Disco Dance.”

Stuart Warren-Hill asked Framepool to find highly unusual archive material for a viral film promoting sneakers from the Italian cult brand DIESEL. Framepool research specialist Stella Waltemade ultimately suggested the very quirky footage of a disco-dance class from Finland. Stuart skillfully staged additional scenes featuring DIESEL sneakers and incorporated them into the original footage. It is a subtle and simple trick that has been known worldwide at least since Forrest Gump.

Stephan Bleek, CEO of Framepool AG in Munich, said: “I would like to congratulate Stuart warmly on his success and thank him for working with us on this enormously successful project. My congratulations also go to Stella, because she found this cool material. Playing with footage is a great challenge for all creative professionals in today’s advertising-film market—and that is what the award recognized.”
