Kaspersky Lab today launches its latest generation of home security products. Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 feature a new antivirus engine that significantly improves scanning speed. The technology combines blacklists and whitelists with behavior-based detection. New HIPS technology controls application activity, allowing new malware to be detected and blocked before signatures are available.
As large virus epidemics have given way to short, localized attacks, security software must increasingly protect computers against threats that are still unknown.

Protection through prevention
Because many threats enter through browser and application vulnerabilities, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 continuously scans the system for security gaps and recommends remedies, including missing updates and risky browser settings.
The program uses multiple technologies to analyze unknown applications, assign a differentiated threat rating and determine access rights. Suspicious applications receive limited or no access to operating-system resources, networks, confidential data, privileges or devices.

An automated decision module minimizes time-consuming prompts for most users. Advanced users can define rights for each program in detail, ranging from restrictions on personal-data access to complete isolation from the system.
Protection of user data
The 2009 products expand protection for confidential data. In addition to phishing and keylogger protection, Internet Security includes a virtual keyboard for safely entering private information into web applications.

The software also protects data entered through HTTPS or SSL connections and automatically removes traces of internet activity such as temporary files and cookies.
Higher scanning and response speed
The firewall, heuristic analysis, parental controls and anti-spam module have been revised. Scanning and response speeds are higher, resources are used more efficiently—especially on multicore systems—and the redesigned interface improves usability and presentation of security status and required actions.
Both products support 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Vista.
