Canon is launching its “Freefilming” campaign this summer, designed specifically to move people away from familiar routines and bring fresh inspiration to shooting with a camcorder. A new generation of amateur filmmakers is stepping into the spotlight: the “Freefilmers.”
The idea behind Freefilming is a new and different kind of video production—filming without limits and free from convention. Freefilming is intended to provide new ideas and break through traditional assumptions about filming. A camcorder is not only for holidays, family celebrations or a child’s first steps.
With Freefilming, Canon aims to encourage people to pick up a camcorder spontaneously, discover new perspectives and film whenever an opportunity arises.
Freefilming naturally requires a suitable camcorder, which is where the HF10 comes in. The latest member of Canon’s HD camcorder range sits comfortably in the hand and delivers striking high-definition video and attractive 3.1-megapixel photos. Along with numerous features for versatile use, it has a rotating and swivelling LCD display for additional convenience.
The ultra-compact HF10 uses the Canon HD Camera System, with an original Canon HD lens, a high-quality Full HD CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC DV II image processor to produce brilliant, compelling video at 1,920 x 1,080 Full HD resolution.
Other high-end features include Instant AF high-speed autofocus and an optical Super Range image stabilizer. The flash-memory system supports extra-long shoots: up to six hours of HD video can be recorded on the internal 16 GB memory. Alternatively, users can record to a removable SDHC memory card, ideal for passing videos to friends. Because flash storage has no moving parts, footage is well protected against shocks even when filming becomes particularly energetic.
The current Canon Freefilming campaign also presents interesting short films and making-of videos on a dedicated website.
