The final version of Windows Search 4.0 is now available from the Microsoft Download Center. It is also due to be offered through Windows Update as a recommended download for Windows Vista and an optional download for Windows XP SP2 or SP3.
Windows Search 4.0 can also be installed on Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Home Server. The new version of the desktop search software supports EFS-encrypted data, expands Group Policy settings, improves online-mode Exchange indexing performance and enhances remote index searches across all supported Windows versions.
