The Madrid office is responsible for activities in Spain and Portugal, where Ovanes Mikhailov will lead operations. Kaspersky Lab has already been operating successfully in both countries for ten years. Each office is expected to grow to 15 employees by the end of 2008. According to figures from the GfK Group, Kaspersky Lab is currently number two in both the Spanish and Italian retail markets, with rapid growth.

“The rapid development of Kaspersky Lab in recent years is being systematically continued through the expansion of our international presence,” explains Andreas Lamm, Managing Director Europe at Kaspersky Lab. “Italy and the Iberian Peninsula have been important markets for us for years, so it was a logical step to strengthen our commitment there.”
The new offices are intended to intensify communication with distributors and resellers and further expand business in the regions. Technical support will also be provided directly by the respective offices in the local language in the future. In addition, Kaspersky Lab is expanding its network of international virus analysts. With specialists present locally, the company can respond to local threats more quickly and effectively.
