Which were the year’s most creative productions, and the best in technical execution? Which outstanding productions are being made in the domestic market? What does the market abroad look like? Which commercials, diploma projects and game trailers make skilful use of CGI? Last but not least: Who are the winners of the animago AWARDs 2008?

November 12 this year is the day. As part of the digital creation days, all these questions will be answered and the animago AWARDs presented in Karlsruhe. DIGITAL PRODUCTION is continuing with the concept that already proved successful last year: combining the animago AWARDs ceremony with a trade exhibition specifically geared towards the German-speaking market. Over two days, the aim is to learn, make contacts and, of course, celebrate.
True to the motto “Competition is the best further education”, animago participants can take the opportunity to measure themselves against the best in the industry. As so often, it is also worth looking beyond one’s own backyard, in this case to France, for example. Two trophies went to our neighbour last year for two short films that were outstanding both technically and narratively.
Entries are submitted by students, newcomers to the profession, professionals and hobbyists, both nationally and internationally. In 2007, we received entries from 35 different countries. A total of eleven works will receive awards in the following categories: Best Production, Best International Cinema Production, Best Student Production, Best Technical Realisation, Best Idea, Best Character, Best Visualisation, Best Still, Best Interactive Production, Best Advertising Production and the Jury Prize.
