Panasonic has announced a new line of high-speed SDHC memory cards designed specifically for videographers. With storage capacities of 6GB and 12GB*, they are ideal for recording video with high-definition camcorders. They can store 90 and 180 minutes**, respectively, of Full HD footage at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. They can of course also be used for standard-definition video recording. The new RP-SDM06G (6GB) and RP-SDM12G (12GB) cards comply with Class 4 and provide data-transfer rates from 4MB per second (guaranteed) to 10MB per second (maximum).
The market for high-definition (HD) camcorders based on SD cards continues to grow. Panasonic is not only the world’s leading brand for camcorders that record to SD cards, but also develops and offers reliable, high-performance SDHC memory cards***. They provide exceptional reliability and performance, especially for AVCHD recording, and are ideally suited to mobile use.
Thanks to the cards’ particular resistance to bending and twisting, unique and irreplaceable recordings receive maximum protection. Industrial-grade flash memory ensures reliable operation even under adverse conditions. The new Panasonic cards can be used safely at temperatures ranging from –25°C to +85°C****. They also preserve valuable data if the power supply is interrupted during access, for example if the device is dropped.
The RP-SDM06G and RP-SDM12G SDHC memory cards also feature a user-friendly labeling area. Videographers can write a keyword directly on the card, making it easy to keep their recordings organized and clearly identified.
The new Panasonic RP-SDM06G and RP-SDM12G SDHC memory cards are expected to launch in Germany at the end of August 2008. Recommended retail prices are €33.99 for the 6GB card and €67.99 for the 12GB model.
