From September 12, 2008, daring merchants set sail and attempt to gain wealth and power in Caribbean waters. However, combative privateers make profitable business difficult in the trading war of the South Seas. Courage and the right strategy are required.

During play, yvio—the interactive console for board games—calculates prices in the dynamic economic system and determines the probability of a pirate attack. Yvio also handles haggling for better prices on rum, tobacco and other goods.

Set Sail

Entering the world of strategic maritime trade has never been easier. From the start of the game, yvio explains the rules to players through voice output. Aspiring tycoons can concentrate on the important questions: Which goods can I buy cheaply, and where? What is the best way to equip my ship? Do I confront the pirates or seek safety in flight? This creates an exciting race for the office of governor. Only those with a good instinct for goods and danger can outmaneuver their rivals—and choosing the right equipment often determines victory or defeat.

Up to four players aged ten and over pursue the goal with individual strategies. Yvio enhances the high-seas adventure with technical refinements. Different speakers and the atmospheric South Seas soundscape deepen and intensify the experience with the innovative console. Yvio moderates events, gives helpful tips and ensures an uncomplicated start to the game, eliminating the need to leaf through lengthy instructions. USB compatibility will allow expansions for Buccaneers of the Caribbean to be downloaded online in the future.

According to the company, yvio is revolutionizing the console industry by combining the fun of board games with modern console technology. PublicSolution is now announcing the second game that will be playable on the yvio console alongside Octago from September. In Buccaneers of the Caribbean, landlubbers reach for their sabers and transform into bargaining traders and daring merchants.
