The six-part curriculum is intended to give students insight into 3D animation and the creation of visual effects. At the same time, the program offers an engaging route into important science subjects and other core subjects such as mathematics, languages and art education. For the first time, Animation Academy includes Autodesk Mudbox digital-sculpting software and Autodesk MotionBuilder character-animation software alongside Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Maya modeling, animation and rendering products.

“Autodesk Animation Academy is easy to understand, provides measurable learning objectives for student assessment and meets my school district’s requirements for better integration of theory and practice in vocational education,” said Pat Gombarcik, a 3D-animation instructor at the Arts & Communications Academy and Southeast Career Technical Academy in Nevada. “My students can deepen their knowledge of important core subjects while gaining valuable skills for their future careers.”

Animation Academy 2009 meets numerous academic standards, including the International Technology Education Association’s educational guidelines and US STEM standards for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The curriculum includes comprehensive project-based learning units covering astronomy, architecture, the digestive system, weather systems, forensics and a freely selected topic.
