New Vocational School Offers Dual Qualification for Advertising and Events

The first day of training at the new private Macromedia vocational school for marketing and events, established in cooperation with the Munich and Upper Bavaria Chamber of Industry and Commerce, is 16 September 2008. Applications remain open until 5 September.

Graduates can begin their careers with the dual qualification of event-management assistant and marketing-communications assistant.

For school leavers who have not yet decided on vocational training or university study, the private vocational school for marketing and events under the Macromedia Academy umbrella offers an interesting alternative to Germany’s dual vocational-training system from autumn 2008. After an intensive three-year course ending with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce examination, students can optionally prepare for a second final examination during a further year in which they are already working for a company.

For the first time in Germany, a training programme therefore leads to both event-management assistant and marketing-communications assistant qualifications.

The teaching concept includes a friendly, modern learning environment and the use of extensive contemporary technology. At the beginning of 2009, the vocational school will move from the Macromedia building at Gollierstrasse 4 to the business complex at Elsenheimer Strasse 63, 80687 Munich, which is easily accessible via the U4 and U5 underground lines at Westendstrasse.

Dual Qualification with Strong Practical Orientation

During the first school year, students acquire comprehensive knowledge of general commercial subjects and specialist knowledge of events and marketing. Teaching at the vocational school combines theory, exercises, case studies and projects.

This is followed by a 12-month company internship determined by the trainee’s professional focus: at an event agency for event management, or in a company’s advertising department, for example, for marketing communications.

A further eight months of teaching at the vocational school then deepen and apply the material through practice projects. After four months of examination preparation, students can sit their first Chamber of Industry and Commerce examination.

The Macromedia Academy subsequently offers an opportunity to gain the second qualification after a further year, during which the students are already employed. Evening and weekend teaching prepares them for the second final examination in parallel with their work. Two occupations can therefore be learned in four years.

A Strong Foundation for Entering the Labour Market or University Study

The result of the dual training is that after four years, two of which have already been spent in professional practice, graduates have particularly strong career and promotion prospects. As an alternative to entering employment, they can then attend advanced institutions such as a vocational upper-secondary school for another year to gain a general or subject-specific university of applied sciences entrance qualification and subsequently study.

The fee-based course requires an Abitur, a university of applied sciences entrance qualification or an intermediate school-leaving certificate, together with an entrance test and personal interview. Applications are possible until 5 September.
