Deutsche POP information day
At its information day, the Deutsche POP training academy offers workshops that provide an opportunity to sample exciting careers in music and media - for example, photo designer, presenter or music producer. A total of 38 training programmes will be presented, preparing participants for their careers through practical experience.
The information day takes place on Saturday, February 20, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the academy's four locations in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich.
Everyone who would like to learn about forward-looking professions in music, sound, management, communication, design or image and is interested in training in them is invited.
Admission is free; registration at the respective location is requested.

Digital Cinema in Munich
The Cluster Audiovisual Media (CAM) supports the HDF Kino e.V. initiative "Digital Cinema Roadshow" at the Munich location. Cinema operators and theatre managers receive a practical introduction to "digitalisation" in a one-day seminar on 24 September 2008 at the Mathäser Filmpalast.
The seminar covers the following main topics:
1. Description and demonstration of the cinema workflow (setting up a functioning server in the auditorium)
2. Integration into existing automation installations; networking in the cinema
3. Practical report from everyday cinema operations and a question-and-answer session with experts from technology, distribution and cinemas
4. Presentation and distribution of the "requirements specification" and the "network checklist"
The participation fee is 90 euros per person (plus VAT). The number of participants is limited to 40.

On 22 August 2008, Europe's largest computer games league gives the starting signal at the Games Convention trade fair in Leipzig for the thirteenth season of the eSport Bundesliga, the ESL Pro Series. With 170,000 euros, it is Germany's most richly endowed league for professional computer gaming. On 12.09.2008, the league comes to the Tonhalle in Munich.
In the disciplines Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike:Source and FIFA 2008 or Warcraft 3, professional players compete live in front of an audience for valuable points in the contest for the German championship in electronic sport and for 170,000 euros in prize money.

Disposable DVD Destroys Itself After 48 Hours
Selected retailers in Munich have recently begun selling films on so-called disposable DVDs. The new disc type, known as DVD-Disposal or DVD-D, allows films to be viewed only within a specified period. DVD-D disables itself 48 hours after first insertion, after which the content can no longer be played.
