Detailed MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN 2008 Congress Programme Now Online

MEDIENTAGE 2008, held from 29 to 31 October, is devoted to advertising.

Under the motto “Advertising in Transition — Value and Effectiveness in the Digital Media Flood”, the Media Summit will examine the effects of rapidly increasing online-media use and the internet’s importance as the centre of communication for the advertising industry. This year’s keynote will be given by James Murdoch, Chairman and CEO of News Corporation Europe and Asia.

The Print Summit addresses growth opportunities for conventional print media under the changed conditions created by increasing digitalisation in the publishing industry. Following a welcome from State Minister Eberhard Sinner, VBZV Chairman Andreas Scherer will provide an introduction. Publisher Dr Dirk Ippen; Dr Richard Rebmann, Managing Director of Südwestdeutsche Medien Holding; Sebastian Turner, Partner at Scholz & Friends Group; and Christiane zu Salm, Crossmedia Executive at Hubert Burda Media, will then discuss the challenge facing publishers in securing a quality monopoly for local information and services on the internet and making better use of online advertising’s revenue potential. Stern.de editor-in-chief Frank Thomsen will moderate.

Digital advertising is also the focus of the Online Summit. Dr Antonella Mei-Pochtler will first present findings from “The Future of Advertising” study. The panellists will then analyse whether digital advertising represents a gold rush or a convergence crash. They are Dr Bernd Buchholz, Executive Board Member for Magazines at Gruner + Jahr; United Internet Media Executive Board Member Matthias Ehrlich; MTV manager Dan Ligtvoet; ProSiebenSat.1 Executive Board Member Klaus-Peter Schulz; Pilot Media Managing Director Jens-Uwe Steffens; Dr Karl Ulrich, Managing Director of Süddeutscher Verlag; and Yahoo! Germany Managing Director Terry von Bibra. Leo Busch will moderate the Online Summit.
