At Cinec 2008, more than 150 companies from 15 countries will present new products in two halls of Munich’s M,O,C Event Center from 20 to 22 September. An extensive supporting programme completes the largest European event of its kind.
The Exhibition — State of the Art
Cinec will naturally focus on the latest developments in image capture, currently the sector undergoing the most change. The lighting-technology segment, which has a strong presence at this year’s fair, also offers numerous innovations. Manufacturers of stage equipment are demonstrating considerable innovative strength. In lightweight equipment, a new development offers documentary filmmakers additional image-design possibilities through simple, rapid operation.
Camera technology and accessories also include many specialist solutions and further developments for the specific demands of practical shooting. A new rig for stereoscopic cinematography is designed to help avoid familiar problems for viewers. The services sector also offers interesting networking opportunities, not only for rental but also for maintaining and repairing every type of equipment.
Trade-Fair Tour — State Minister Sinner at Cinec
At the initiative of the Cluster Audiovisual Media and FFF Bayern, State Minister Eberhard Sinner will tour the fair on 22 September to view new products from Bavarian and international exhibitors.
The Cinec Award — Prize for Innovation
Many of the new products will compete for the Cinec Award. In several categories, Fördergemeinschaft Filmtechnik uses the award to honour the fair’s most outstanding innovations. Thirty entries will challenge the international jury to assess and recognise the new developments. The Cinec Award is supported by the Free State of Bavaria, and the presentation ceremony takes place at Munich’s Old Town Hall on 20 September. The host is Dr Reinhard Wieczorek, the City of Munich’s Head of Labour and Economic Affairs.
Cooperation — Worldwide and Across Every Field
Beyond the core field of film technology, the fair also presents a broad range in keeping with its aim to provide a forum for “the whole film” and a useful foundation for communication. Media partnerships with numerous publications in Germany and abroad ensure broad and lasting external impact, while institutions such as the Cluster Audiovisual Media Bavaria provide a bridge to politics.
New at Cinec is the UK Pavilion with ten companies, supported by UK Trade & Investment through the Trade Show Access Programme.
The Supporting Programme — Perspectives on Practice and the Future
A high-level forum of speakers will examine the future of cinematography, while a themed day on digital archiving will present new developments and approaches to the current problem of media degradation.
Emerging Talent at Cinec
MedienCampus Bayern e.V. addresses young people interested in film careers. In cooperation with the Cluster Audiovisual Media, school and university students are invited to look behind the scenes at the fascinating world of film before choosing a career.
